Osteopathy for Pregnant Women

Support during and after pregnancy, including pelvic complaints, back pain and postpartum recovery.

Osteopathy During and After Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a special and intense time during which your body undergoes enormous changes in a short period. The belly grows, your posture changes, hormones provide more elasticity in connective tissue, and organs are pushed out of their place. These adjustments are necessary, but can also lead to complaints.

I specialize in treating pregnant women and use specially adapted techniques that are completely safe during pregnancy. The goal is to support your body through these natural changes, reduce complaints and optimally prepare for delivery.

Why Osteopathy During Pregnancy?

Many pregnant women experience various complaints that are considered 'normal', but you don't have to have them. Osteopathy can alleviate these complaints so that you can optimally enjoy your pregnancy.

Pelvic Pain and Pelvic Instability

Pelvic pain is one of the most common complaints during pregnancy. The pelvis is relaxed by hormones and the extra weight. By keeping the pelvis in balance and treating it, I can significantly reduce pain. A well-functioning pelvis is also important for a smooth delivery.

Back and Neck Complaints

Due to the changing posture and the extra weight at the front, back and neck complaints can arise. Osteopathy helps your body adapt to these changes and helps keep the spine and pelvis in balance.

Reflux and Digestive Problems

Due to the growing uterus, the stomach and intestines are pushed upwards, which can lead to heartburn, reflux and constipation. Osteopathic treatment can support the function of these organs and reduce complaints.

Preparation for Delivery

An osteopathic treatment in the last weeks of pregnancy can optimally prepare your body for delivery. By mobilizing the pelvis and removing tensions in your ligaments and muscles, we create more space and help your baby move through the pelvis. This can contribute to a smoother and faster delivery.

If your baby is not lying correctly (breech position), osteopathy can help create more space so that your baby can still turn.

Post-Partum: Recovery After Delivery

The period after delivery is at least as important. Your body has taken nine months to go through the changes, and also needs time to recover. Osteopathy can support and accelerate this recovery process.

Post-Partum Complaints We Can Treat:

  • Persistent pelvic pain or pelvic instability
  • Back and neck complaints (from lifting and feeding the baby)
  • Scar tissue after caesarean section or episiotomy
  • Abdominal muscles that do not cooperate well (diastasis recti)
  • Fatigue and lack of energy

When to Start Treatment?

You can come to me throughout the entire pregnancy. Many women come in the second and third trimester when the complaints are most pronounced. After delivery, I recommend a check-up after 6-8 weeks, but for acute complaints you can come sooner.

What can I help you with:

Back and pelvic pain
Pelvic instability
Abdominal muscle problems

During Pregnancy

Osteopathy can be safely applied throughout the entire pregnancy. The treatment helps your body adapt to the changes and reduces complaints such as pelvic and back pain.

After Delivery

Postpartum treatment helps with recovery after delivery. Osteopathy can treat pelvic pain, scar tissue, back pain and other complaints and help you get your body back to how it felt before your baby.
